The           Story

Angelina Huang first stepped onto the ice at six-years-old - and never looked back.

What followed was a childhood spent at the center of elite figure skating, chasing a dream many only imagine. In 2017, she became the U.S. National Novice Ladies Champion, earning her place on Team USA. But after just a few years representing her country, the weight of pressure, burnout, and mental health struggles led her to step away from the sport that had defined her life.

In that space of loss and uncertainty, Angelina discovered wild ice...

the art of skating on ever-changing natural surfaces. Frozen lakes, rivers, and glaciers became her new arena. Chasing these raw, unpredictable landscapes reignited her love for skating, bringing her full circle to the innocent freedom she once thought was gone forever.

This documentary follows Angelina’s journey to Alaska, where she sets out to skate some of the world’s most breathtaking lakes and glaciers. She’s chasing a rare alignment: a first freeze on a glacier, perfectly timed with the aurora borealis overhead. At the heart of the story is a deeper reflection on her career and the unspoken realities of competitive figure skating - the cost of excellence, the mental toll of elite sport, and the courage it takes to walk away from a childhood dream.

Wild Ice is a story of renewal. It captures a rare and powerful truth not often seen in elite athletics: the bravery to redefine success, reclaim joy, and rediscover what it means to skate -not for medals, but for love.
